RCA Historic Interfaith Moment

When Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Joined Robert Schuller on the Hour of Power

In early 1972, one of American Christianity's most remarkable interfaith gatherings took place at Robert Schuller's Garden Grove Community Church in Southern California. Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen — the pioneering Catholic television preacher whose program Life Is Worth Living had captivated millions throughout the 1950s — appeared as a guest speaker on an early episode of Schuller's Hour of Power broadcast.

The interfaith service drew an estimated 12,000 people — gathering both inside the sanctuary and outside, listening from their cars in the famous drive-in tradition that Schuller had pioneered. Schuller frequently credited Sheen as his primary inspiration and mentor for using mass media and television to preach the Gospel.

That spirit of unity across Christian traditions — Catholic and Protestant, working side by side in service of the Gospel — is the same spirit that animates FindAChurchJobToday.com. Our platform bridges denominations, connecting mission-driven professionals with the parishes and ministries that need them, regardless of tradition.

"Running a parish or ministry involves far more than just what happens on Sunday morning. Thousands of Catholic institutions need skilled, mission-driven professionals."

— Dr. Arthur George Scott, Founder, FindAChurchJobToday.com
